Bad hip pain after running?I've been running for awhile now. It isn't anything major. but I run about 2-3 miles 2 days a week (when I have field hockey conditioning) and on the off days, I've been running a mile and a half.
awhile back, I noticed that my hip kind of hurt after I had a conditoning on an indoor field. But I just ignored it and rested. And I haven't had it for awhile.
Then, I got it every once in awhile after I ran. Now, I have it every time I run it seems. It's after a run or when we have to do sprints and I finish my sprint to wait for the next. It starts as a little painful and a few nights ago it got as serious as when I coughed it hurt.
The pain is on my right hip. It seems to feel like the pain is RIGHT on the bone, but maybe it's muscle if it hurts when i cough.
What could be the cause of this? Do I run funny? I know when we practiced "strides" where you basically run in really long strides, when I stopped and kind of twisted my body, my hips cracked. Could it be my running shoes? THey are saucony and cost about 80 dollars. I got them about five months ago and I ran track with them. We logged about 3-4 miles a day. (on a concrete track) and I ran with them on the treadmill two miles a day once track ended in june. and now I run with them on the field grass, on an inside field, and on a soft (softer than concrete, but harder than rubber) track. and I just started running in my neightborhood on the street. (but that was only once and I had to stop at a mile and a half because my hip was hurting.
I think I might make an appointment with my DR tomorrow. But I don't think he can do anything. Last time I shin splints or back pain he said to not run and I CAN"T not run. My coaches get PISSED and think we're weak and try to get out of running.

See your DR. Btw, sometimes a hip hurts when one leg is slightly shorter than the other. Rest is probably the only thing that can help. Once you start feeling better, ease into it by increasing volume and intensity very gradually. But you need to check it anyway.

I get those too, i was told its side stitches. but if thats not what your talking about then you could ask your coach, or dr about it. its probably nothing to worry bout but you should check to make sure.
