High school distance runner hip pain?

High school distance runner hip pain?I am a sophomore girl and run cross country and distance track at my high school. My freshman year I had no problems, but ever since cross country my sophomore year I have had hip pain on the back of my upper left hip. I have grown about 3 inches over the last year and think that might have to do with it. Any stretches or suggestions?

You can have tight muscles in your lower back pressing onto the nerves going to your hips to cause the pain in them. You don't have to feel the back pain at all but the pressure on the nerves you won't miss. It would be fairly easy to end up with tight muscles doing the running. Here's how to free up your back muscles to get the pressure off the nerves to your hips:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
