Hip pain: Front and back hip pain while running?

Front and back hip pain while running?I'm getting ready for indoor track and I've tried to get in at least 3 days a week of road running in. Whenever I go on a run, I start out fine for the first mile or so, but soon after I feel a constant soreness in the front part of my hip, in the two tendons that connect the hip to the upper thigh. I get this on both my left/right sides, and occasionally, if I really start pushing the pace, the back of my hip (at the joint) starts to hurt also. It's fine when I walk but if I try to lift my knees above a certain point it starts hurting again.

What could this be, and what can I do to strengthen myself while preventing this injury?

Here's some additional info: My course is pretty much a long extended hill with a few steep inclines/dips. I am a moderate overpronator.

its probably because you are not flexible in those areas so just strech the muscles around your hip more often. what this is is soreness everyone gets sore when running and doing sports so this is perfectly normal. you can just continue running and it will get strengthened on its own just remember to strech once it becomes more flexible then it will go away or at least partialy
