Hip/SI joint pain pain during pregnancy?I am almost 24 weeks pregnant, and I have been getting severe hip pain for about 3-4 weeks now. I have a previous sport injury to my SI-joint which wasn't 100% when I got pregnant, but was probably the best it would ever be. I have been having some SI-joint pain during the day (I have been recommended a belt for belly support). I actually don't really have a big belly yet, I barely look pregnant, but I've still put on 16 pounds (I was a little underweight when I got pregnant).
My question is I wake up during the night (last night I barely slept) because of my hip pain. It's on both sides. It's really achy, and it runs down into my knees. It only happens at night. I am sleeping on my side which isn't something I've always done (I try mostly left, but my SI joint problem is the left so I do usualy half half on left and right side). I'm a back or stomach sleeper usually so it's a big adjustment. I have the snoogle pillow which I use every night. I am just wondering if anyone has ever had this type of hip pain? I havn't talked to my Dr. about it yet because at first I just thought it was normal, or it was my SI, but now I am starting to wondering if it's that or something else.
Thanks everyone!

that sounds a lot like the baby is on your sciatic nerve or you have round ligament pain kicking in. I had it really bad when I slept at night, especially if I changed positions in my sleep. It would wake me up suddenly and it would hurt and ache for minutes. With the sciatic nerve, it feels like a pain or tingling radiating down your legs. Ask your doctor, they should be able to tell you exaclty what it is and ease your worries.
Best of luck! :)
