Pain from epidural....it's been over a month?I had my daughter on October 6th so it's been a little over a month now and the spot where they gave me the epidural still hurts. It's hard to describe...it's more of a lower backache pain but I can also feel pain if I touch it with my hand. At first I figured I was just still having back problems from being pregnant since I gained 41 lbs and I'm a very petite person (5', 95 lbs pre-pregnancy) but after about 3 weeks I noticed it wasn't going away.
Not sure if this has anything to do with it....they had to do the epidural twice. The first time they tried it I got a numby/shocking pain in my lower back and both my hips when they inserted the needle. They seemed a little concerned but he said something about since the numbness was on both sides and not just one that it probably just hit a nerve and it was nothing serious since I am so petite. It went fine the second time they tried but then it turned out to be a one-sided epidural after an hour, leaving no pain relief on the right side and my left leg was numb until 9pm (I got the epidural at 10am).
I have my postpartum check up on December 2nd so I'll ask about it but I know there's probably nothing they can do. Has anyone else had a bad reaction to an epidural and did it go away?
Forever broken
You should go to the doctors.

I too had a baby 10 weeks ago. I still have pain in my lower back. when i sit for a long period or if I am bent over such as changing baby I have a hard time straightening my back up. when my daughter lays on my back on hits the spot it still hurts. like you the first one failed it took them five trys before getting it right but I found that one side was numb and the other side became less numb. after birth I ended up with full feeling in one leg than the other. The only thing I can suggest is bring it up at your six week checkup. I have an appointment with my family doctor about mine. This is my fourth child epidurals with all of them but this time i still have pain.

Hey ! :)
Glad to see you asked this question as I was about to post something quite similar. I gave birth on oct 7th (just one day after you) and I also still feel pain from the epidural (and may I mention the epidural didn't even work? arrrgh)
Probably that this is normal since we are both experimenting the same thing. Let's hope it will go away soon enough.
Good luck and congrats hun xxx

the honest truth that i have found to be is that it might not ever go away
it might lessen, but will always be there
i had a little boy in may 2007 and my epidural was messed up then and i went numb on my right leg and up to my hip, i still have problems with it now when i get stressed or overwork it
i have been to everytype of doctor that u can think of and none can find an answer
