What are the signs of hip dislocation in dogs?My dog has been limping 1 day now and I am worried. He lets me move his leg and does not react. I am able to put pressure on it and it does not seem to bother him. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow AM, but am wondering if it is dislocated, what are the courses of action to take and what kind of costs are there? Thanks!!

If it is dislocated, that leg will be a tad shorter than the other one.
Keep the dog quiet and as immobile as possible until seeing the vet.

Depends on the dog. We had an akita that got hit by the car and always had problems... ended up taking her to U of I for suregery. cost like 3000!!!!
big dogs are prone to dysplasia (sp?)
Wait and see what your vet says.
BYB's are impotent
If you think that the hip is dislocated, then the dog needs to be at the vet. Would you want to be laying around with YOUR hip dislocated?
If the leg is not bothering him with applied pressure, the chances are slim that it's dislocated. Unless it's a very slight dislocation or it's just not seated right.
If my dog had been limping for a day, waiting another day would not be an option. Dogs limp because they are in pain - not for fun. My dog would be at an emergency vet getting pain meds and a diagnosis.
