Kind of embarrassing question..for women only..?

maybe you could talk to your dr about getting on the pill. certain pills can reduce period symptoms. It sounds like you've tried everything you can...the only left to do is to go to the doctor like you said you are doing today..
He will be able to diagnose you correctly...and yes...putting you on the pill will probably help a lot...it will lessen your bleeding and it will shorten your periods.
Good luck, and I hope you feel better.Talk to a female doctor that you can trust.I had this problem when i was younger too. My doctor put me on the pill and it didn't help. However, after we tried a few different ones, we found one that really helped. For me, it's Orthonovum. For you, it might be different. It may take a few before you find one that really helps, but once you do, it's great. Good luck!I haven't had that experience personally but I used to be friends with a girl that was basically crippled during her period. She was in so much and her flow was so heavy she literally didn't leave the house for a couple of days. She did eventually get on the pill.

I think your mom is right in wanting to put you on that. However, you'll need to pay attention to what your would-be cycle is for the first couple of months because there will definitely be spotting(and in your case potential bleed-through since its so heavy.) You may want to check out Seasonique. It's like the Seasonale pill but its for people who have a lot of pain with their period, etc.

I also think you may want to make a few minor changes in your diet. Only to include more iron because there's a good chance you are or are borderline anemic. I would discuss that with the doctor too. They may want to run some tests to make sure there's no other underlying causes. There shouldn't be but better safe than sorry. Just make sure you tell the doctor everything, even if you think its embarassing. They can't help you if they don't know everything.

Good luck =)I did have really long period and a lot of it, but not cramps. I went to the doctor back when I was fourteen but the doctor was able to help. He said that my body just change because of the climate here in US. Exercise definitely would not have help, so don't exercise.i matured quickly too, the exact same times as you. i get horrible cramps and i tylenol for them. i dont have heavy periods but my doctor has asked me if i do on several occassions. so going to the doctor is your best bet. the pill will help a lot.. good luck.you should really go to a doctor...apparently i matured in the same way..but my periods are fine...just go talk to your doctor before you take your mom's desicion.....it shoukld be fine......Honey, I can surely sympathize. I was in the same boat when I was your age. I remember having to go home from school at least once a month because of accidents. I swear I should have had stock in Always, the way I went through them. I never really talked to my mom about going to the doctors, so I didn't actually go on birth control pills until I was 18. The difference when I did was absolutely amazing! I was able, for the first time, to actually know when I would get my period and I no longer had to rely on the heavy overnight pads during the day.

Going to the doctor is a good step. The birth control pill will lighten your period, as well as regulate it. You'll notice too that your cramps will become lighter or go away completely. An added bonus, most pills clear the skin (if you have that problem).

Good luck!

EDIT: You should talk to your doctor about what type of pill to go on. There are some out there, like seasonale, that supposedly let you skip your period for a few months. I wouldn't recommend them based on personal experience. I tried seasonale and had my period for over a month.take a few ibuprofen and get in a hot shower, plus being on the pill helps.
