Can I request a C-Section or induction due to a torn hip labrum?I am pregnant with my first child and I am currently 25 weeks pregnant. I used to be in the U.S. Army and while I was in I suffered a torn labrum in my right hip. Essentially I tore muscle and ligament within the hip joint itself and without being pregnant it is very uncomfortable. And add the weight and pressure of the pregnancy on top of it and I am now in so much pain. I cannot do anything for the pain except rest but it is still causing me so much pain I have to fight back tears a lot. I am getting very worried because I am just approaching the 3rd trimester and still have a ways to go before my baby is due and I am in so much pain already. I wanted to know if I could request a c-section or induction of labor close to my due date? I want to ensure my baby has developed properly but I don't want to run the risk of going past my due date and suffering even further because the physical and emotional stress it is causing me can't be good for me or my baby. My husband is in the Army and stationed in South Korea. He will flying home for the birth and I want him to enjoy his time at home as much as possible so I think maybe doing the c-section or induction a few days after he gets here would take his worry about me away and let him focus on the joy of us becoming new parents. Any opinions or advice would be greatly welcome. Thanks!

You can certainly ask your Dr. he's the only one that can say yes or no - all you can do is ask

Yes, just talk to your doctor. They won't usually induce until a week after your due date, but they might do it sooner under special circumstances.

your dr may induce for your situation. i was induced @ 39weeks so it is certainly allowed, but, it has great odds to lead to a c-section. i ended up with a c-section an to be honest it was a very hard recovery. most of the women i know had very slow recoveries as well. all the women i know that had there babies vaginally were back to normal within 3-5 days but with c-section it was at least 3-7weeks before they were anywhere close to normal. in my humble opinion i would not voluntarily request a c-section. i believe it would be easier for your husband to deal with you being in alot of discomfort awaiting the arrival of your alls baby for a bit than do struggle to help you and baby after c-section. it was pretty difficult to care for my baby an recover from my c-section at the same time. i hope this help you in your decision but this is however my experiences an i would recommend you do a bit of research an then make an educated decision that will be best for you an baby. also checkout www.ican.com good luck
