Try doing work outs to work your lower back. It's the hardest part of your body to work on and it usually keeps your legs injury free if its strong and stable.

Besides strengthening the muscle group in question, have you tried to look into getting new shoes? Over 90% of running related injuries can be attributed back to the type of shoes you're wearing. Even if you're running around in football cleats. You want to make sure they are the right cleats for you to wear, and they will break down too eventually causing injuries.

Both of the answers you've received so far have some great advice. The only thing I'll add is to try some stretching or yoga to get to your hip flexor. You can do a search online for some good stretches. Yes, go get yourself fitted for a good pair of running shoes, too! If all else fails, you may have to go see a doctor so you don't injure yourself any further, and get a stress fracture or something worse.
