Does anyone know from experience how painful hip injection under fluoroscopy is?I need to prepare myself for the procedure I'm having and want to know trufully how painful it is, if you know could you please tell me?
Aspasia
When I had my lumbar(transforaminal) epidural steroid injections(with fluroscopy) done, I was sedated each time, so I don't remember much of it. I have no experience with the hip, but my procedure wasn't too painful, except for the soreness that goes away over time. During my second injection I felt the local being injected, and I jumped for a second, but due to the sedative, I didn't care. :)
A Fluroscope is a type of X-ray that allows the doctor to see images in real time. This will allow for precise placement of the needle so the injection will be performed in the right spot.
Ask your doctor detailed questions and ask if they are able to give you a sedative to help with your nerves. This MAY be standard for your procedure, so ask your doctor questions about what to expect.
Good luck, and hope it gets you back on your feet.
