This happened to me as well as many other woman. When you have bad hip pains in the beginning of your pregnancy it is caused by your pelvis widening to make room for the baby. The pain will go away. Also, I noticed when you are on your feet to long or how you sleep while pregnant it will cause horrible hip pain. There are some safe pain relievers that you can take while pregnant to relieve some of pain. But whatever you do do not take ibuprofen it causes miscarriages.
If you are being moderated throughout your pregnancy you should ask you doctor which medicine is safe for you. Everybody's pregnancy is different.

Do you run a lot? Does you're job mean you have long hours of inactivity? Have you had any children prior to this pregnancy? It's a bit hard to give you a best guess when we know so little about your situation.
However, hip pain is very common in pregnancy if that's any comfort.
