Horrible pain and muscle spasms in left thigh 24/7. What could this be?I'm 44 yrs. old and for over a year, I have been living with horrible pain in my left leg. Source of pain is at the top of thigh where the leg bends. I had an x-ray done and doc said femur and hip was okay, but there was severe inflammation and early signs of Osteoarthritis. I told him that my leg is spasming really bad 24/7. He gave me Celebrex (1 a day), and it didn't help, so they told me to start taking 2 a day. It helped decrease the pain to just take the edge off, but the pain is still horrible and my entire thigh is going crazy with spasms. Now it is spreading down below my knee. I am a waitress and it has been unbearable. He also gave me Hydrocodone (10's) for pain. I have never injured myself and this has been going on for over a year now. I cannot take it anymore. The problem is I don't have any insurance. I went to the doc yesterday (again) and told him about my leg spasming. He said that Osteoarthritis should not cause the leg to spasm. That yes, inflammation could cause the muscle to press on a nerve, but he said to either have an MRI $ 500 or go see a Orthopedic doctor (first visit is $ 600). I cannot afford this. I'm thinking I should have an MRI done. Anyone know what this could be or have any other suggestions? The source of the pain is right where the leg bends (deep inside) but it feels like a ball when I press on it and hurts terribly. If I'm standing up straight and raise my left leg up it hurts, but it really hurts when I move my leg outward to the left. It's very painful. Same if I'm laying down I cannot sit "Indian Style." Also, if I am standing, put left leg back and try to stretch that top part of the thigh it is so painful. I cannot for the life of me figure out what it could be. Your help would be so appreciated.
I have had some massage therapy and the pain dulls but does not go away. The source of the pain is always there. It does radiate into my left gluteal and down the thigh.
