14 year old Muscle weakness in hand and stabbing pain above right hip?

14 year old Muscle weakness in hand and stabbing pain above right hip?I'm 14, and for the past 2 years I've been experiencing muscle weakness in my right hand and recently it's gotten so bad that I can't write very well. Also, I have a stabbing pain above my right hip occasionally. Please don't tell me to visit the doctor, because I can't afford to. I need someone who can give me a straightforward diagnosis. Thank you.

I am not a doctor but will take a couple of guesses as to what this might be. You are 14 and are in a period of rapid growth which could give you intermittent pains/weakness anywhere in your body. If you have one hand that appears to be weak, it could be from overuse - typing, writing, lifting things - some sort of repetitive movement that could cause this. It could also be carpal tunnel syndrome which you can research on WebMd.com. Taking some motrin for the intermittent hip pain will probably help and this will more than likely go away as you get older. And, common sense should tell you that if it gets progressively worse and worse instead of better, then it is time to see a doctor.
