Back, pelvic and foot pain...how do you cope with these in late pregnancy?

Back, pelvic and foot pain...how do you cope with these in late pregnancy?Every pregnancy is definitely different!! I'm 35w4d with #3 and am experiencing things I never did with my first two.

In my 1st two pregnancies I gained roughly 65 lbs each time and had no pain in the first pregnancy and only some moderate back pain in the last trimester of the 2nd pregnancy. I had very little (if any) foot pain in my 2nd and didn't feel discomfort in my hips and pelvic region at all.

In this pregnancy however, I have been experiencing back pain that worsens as the days and weeks progress. I've only gained 30 lbs with this one. I have a job where I mainly sit though I can get up and walk whenever I feel like it. My back pain had been starting around 1 pm every day and lasting through the evening at around the same intensity. Now though the pain kicks in around 8:30 am and lasts all day and evening and makes it almost impossible to get comfortable enough to sleep at night. I've been getting back spasms more than ever before too. My feet are pretty sore by the end of the day (though not at all swollen) and I'm getting pains in the back of my pelvic region and across to my hips. I sometimes wake up with that pain and my hips pop when I walk every now and again.

Anyway, I'm guessing this is all normal for this stage of pregnancy, but I want to know...how do you ladies cope with discomfort like this? I'm so not used to it! Your input would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I haven't experienced the kind of pain that you're referring to . . . but I've experienced some severe leg pain with this second pregnancy (that I didn't have with my first). My husband suggested loading up on water - more water that I thought it humanly possible to drink. Yes, I feel like I use the restroom 2 times an hour, but my leg doesn't hurt at all! You could be mildly dehydrated (or a million other possibilities) and drinking water is a pretty easy, not harmful possible solution and it's good for you too! Good luck!

Yes, it's normal.
Your pelvis is widening to prepare for birth, and for whatever reason you didn't get any discomfort with the first two.
I have been seeing a chiropractor and it has helped SO much.
They are safe to see while pregnant and most insurance covers it - even if yours doesn't, it is pretty cheap.
I highly recommend setting up an appointment - I have been almost pain free since seeing my chiropractor.
I was in so much pain and discomfort with my last pregnancy, but this time around - since seeing the chiropractor - I have been doing great, and only in the last 2 weeks or so has the discomfort really started to bother me (and it's not that bad).
In the mean time - sleep with a pillow or two between your legs, or propped up on pillows so you can lay on your back (it will help take pressure off your sides and hips).
As for the foot pain - I don't know what to say.
It's weird because you don't stand up at work.
Is that the kind of pain it is? Like your feet hurt from standing all day? Or is it something else?
When you're home keep them propped up and cool and go get a foot massage or pedicure.
Good luck!

With my first pregnancy I had awful foot pain (and extreme swelling, couldn't even wear house slippers). I would soak my feet every night, but also through out the day I would elevate them. It didn't take the pain completely away, but it definitely lessened the intensity. I have always suffered from hip pain so that was nothing new to me, but it definitely helped when my husband massaged them, even low into the butt region.

As for sleeping, have you tried propping pillows behind you so you're in a reclining position? With my first pregnancy I had the hardest time getting comfortable and sleeping well. We finally ended up buying me a body pillow that I could wedge between my legs, tuck under my belly, and just curl up with. This helped a lot, but on the occasions it didn't I would get all 8 of my pillows and build them up behind me and sleep in a reclining position, but I could only do that for a couple hours at a time.
With this pregnancy (which I'm only a few days ahead of you) I haven't had much trouble sleeping at all.

You can take tylenol extra strength for the hip/pelvic, back, and foot pain by the way.

Good luck and congratulations! We're both almost done!

the last 3 months i had to go to physical therapy because both hips were out of place. it was so painful before that. they clicked and popped when i walked and i couldn't sleep because the pain was so bad. i would cry sometimes because it was frustrating but it eventually got better with physical therapy. my calves and feet were swollen all day everyday. i just tried my best to relax and take hot bubble baths! the last bit i mostly tried to sleep since it was so hard to get a good nights sleep. Good Luck!
