Hip pain: Stills Disease Help Please?

Stills Disease Help Please?I had my first episode with stills disease when I was 16 years old. I started with the salmon rash that would be all over, then severe elbow pain, then sore throat, then spiking fevers and tto top it all off joint pain all over and swelling. I honestly think I had every symptom. After finally finding out what I had and being treated it went inactive. Then are year later it came back full blown. Since I haven't had those horrible symptoms but I do have a terrible time with my wrist, elbows, knees and hip. It comes and goes. What I would like to know is did I have the children's form or adults form? Everything I read says when it is children it is younger... Are the problems I am having now part of the still's or just from the damage. I get scared that it's going to come back full blown. I have a not so good immune system and I think it's from the stills disease. I am 32 yrs old now and would like to know whats in store for me. My doctors really don't know anything about it

Can you ask your doc to refer you to a rheumatologist ?
From what I know of Still's, it can affect very young children under 5 years of age, but the onset can occur around the time of puberty.

You can still have Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic or Rherumatoid Arthritis which can stay and turn into Polyarticular....

it can stay into adult hood... doesn't mean it turns into adult RA just because you become an adult.... it can go into remission but it can definately come back,.... You can also still have.. Stills deisease too.... it can last into adulthood.. ive met adults with Stills....

You NEED to see a rheumatologist for sure to see what they can do about medications and get things back under control.

There are some great yahoo groups that I belong to for parents of kids with JRA and a group for young adults. There are YA's on the parents groups too and we all support one another.

Thery are AJAO young adults

JRA_Australlia

something like that.. I belong to all 3 and the jra america group os veru very active ran by gerogina... check out yahoo groups....

The salmon rash, blah blah blah is very much lile systemic JRA sometimes called Stills disease as well.... you can get it at 16 but veyr rare..

now the thing is this.. once you're 16, it's ussualy considered thjat you have adult RA... ussualy kids JRA is dx before 16..... but that doesnt mean you didn't have it before 16...

really it doesntmatter because the disrase process is what it is... they can take blood, do test and figure out what needs to happen.... there are many many medications now to help control it.... but mainly you need to see a rheumatologist....

good fortune
