Burning pain in hips while sleeping- legs falling asleep (but not- read details)- Wrong mattress? What else?I used to always sleep on my back, but now that I share a bed (for the past 6 months), I tend to flip around from my back to either side at least once a night, if not more often (my boyfriend, while we're both sleeping, pushes me onto one of my sides).
In the past week, I've noticed searing, burning pain in my hips- whichever hip I wake up on BURNS! The pain & burning is gone by the next time I wake up, unless I'm on the opposite hip the next time around.
Also, my legs "fall asleep"(go numb, but I can move them mostly), and as soon as I pull the numb leg away from the human pretzel business, it usually "wakes up" with no problem, no pins and needles or anything.
I will attempt to sleep only on my back for at least a while, but I wonder why this is happening to me so suddenly. I haven't had this problem at all in the past 6 months of sharing.
What's the best type of mattress to use?
Also, I was hit by a car (which *should* have injured my hips, due to the way I was hit) about 12 years ago, but I've never had problems with my hips, other than the very rare instance of "hip locking".
I'm 29 now, if that means anything, as far as timelines & diagnoses.
Thanks!!

Sounds like pinched nerve to me. Get a bigger bed then your BF won't force you onto your side

That happened to me also. I used a not-so-soft throw pillow to put in between my knees and it really helped. Along with the pillow, i didn't put 1 leg directly on top of the other, that may be causing the numbness.

It could be just stress or you may want to look into restless leg syndrome. As to the mattress question I use a sealy posture pediac but you may have to go into a store and lay flat on a couple of mattresses to find one you're comfortable on.

Ever been checked for bursitis? I have it in both hips. Its pretty well under control right now except that I can't really lay a long time on one side without pain. When it was bad I went to the dr and had shots in both hips. What hurt the most was him poking around - said he had to find the exact spot. That hurt worse than the shot.

I wonder if it could be some nerve in your lower back? i look at the back as the "brain" of the rest of your body, all movement is related to your back. if you go to a regular M.D. you will most likely give you muscle relaxers..i would go to a rheumatoligist/orthopedic or a Chiropractor. i also think you would be surprised to find out that your accident all those years ago, has started to act up on you...good luck in finding the cause and cure...
