Can anyone diagnose this hip pain?I hurt my hip muscle originally in February. I play college soccer and I took a routine shot and felt my left hip muscle "go." I sat down for a bit and didn't feel much pain and I could walk ok but as soon as I tried to pass I had sharp pain. I had problems with my left hip before with a pull and a couple strains so I assumed it was very similar. I could barely walk the first couple days after the injury so I took two weeks off and iced and used the STEM machine every day with a 25-30 minute bike workout. It relieved some of the pain, but not all of it so I decided to practice for a week and the pain continued. I then went to the doctor and was diagnosed with tendinitis and was assigned 2 weeks of formal physical therapy. It relieved a bit more pain but since late March I still have hip pain every day. I can run with minimal pain but if I kick the ball wrong or move my hip wrong I get sharp shooting pain. Even when I am sitting down or laying on the left side (where my hip is injured) it starts to hurt. I am withholding the MRI because of cost, but I feel like I might need it. Does anyone know what this might be?
I forgot to mention the doctor also prescribed Pregnizone in an attempt to reduce the inflammation in my hip

Low back may be dislocated or a disc could be damaged.Have a good Chiropractor check it.

If it's really a tendon injury...you are looking at at least a 12 week recovery...and that's if you continue your exercises daily. It sounds like exercise has been helpful for it, but it sounds like it hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. Your diagnosis does sound consistent with a hip flexor tendonosis.
You don't mention any clicking or popping, so a labral tear is most likely not an issue. However, an MRI might rule this out...especially if done with contrast.
...it is true that the back can cause hip pain, but yours sounds blatently hip related.
