Hip pain during pregnancy?

Hip pain during pregnancy?I am 11w2d and I just started getting hip pain. It hurts my left hip when I walk. It feels like a dull ache - not a sharp pain like I've gotten with round ligament pain before. What is it?

Most likely down to hormones as they prepare your body for pregnancy they loosen your joints. Also the way the baby lays can cause pain and discomfort if they lay on a nerve.

That is your hips spreading. It will do this during your pregnancy. It's perfectly normal. Your hips spread slowly during pregnancy to get ready to push that baby down the birth canal.

It is most likely just round ligament pain, as it doesn't always feel the same. Do you sleep on your left side? If so, the pressure from being on it so long could be the problem. If that's the case, try switching sides. I had horrible hip pain in both sides with my last pregnancy, and part of that was from being overweight in addition to being pregnant. My sister had serious pelvic pain with both her pregnancies (one from a pulled muscle and the second time from a cracked pelvis). If you have had previous injury to that area, you might experience more pain. Most likely it's nothing serious. If it's not bothering you too much, ask about it at your next appointment. But if it's too bad, go ahead and call.
