Hey the best remedy is excercise. There are many excercise -related information provising web sites. You can try them out. they might prove useful.

You should see an MD about it then a Physical Therapist with a good background in Orthopedics to make sure you get the course of care best for your individual symptoms.

When I had sciatic nerve problems a couple of years ago my doctor put me on pain meds so i could sleep. I also did some physical therapy and accupuncture. The main thing the therapist did was put a cold pack on the sciatic area on my behind and some electrical prods (forget the real name) around it and I found that I was feeling much better within 2 weeks.
I still have to be careful not to twist or lift anything too heavy because it can flare up at any time.
If you can't get to a dr and need immediate relief try a tylenol or mortin and an ice pack. I'm not a doctor, this is just my opinion.

First and foremost, consult a doctor / therapist on your condition. at the moment, you can do a couple of stretches to alleviate the pain (if you are able to). Hip roll is a good stretch to begin with. so does supine hamstring stretch. other beneficial stretches include knee hugs, cat stretch, etc. strengthening exercises include bodylifts, lying leg raises, knee-ups, adductor & abductor exercises. as you have a painful condition, do each exercise in a slow & controlled manner. do not rush. take care.
