Knee joint moves in socket a littleI recently noticed that my left knee joint seems a little "loose." When I squat or crouch down, for example, it seems to shift a little laterally, to the inside. It's not painful but is a little disconcerting.
The weird thing is I suspect it's been like this for years, maybe even since I was a kid, and I just got so used to it, thought "oh, it's just like that." I noticed it recently I think because I had an irritated iliotibial band.
I am a runner and biker and have done these things for many years, but the IT band was the first problem I've had with my knees, or even my legs in general. Is it possible my joint is just genetically/naturally out of whack? I am able to dislocate my thumb joints at will with no pain, so maybe my body is just a little weird that way.
Any suggestions on what to do with this, how to minimize any potential for injury would be appreciated. I did leg raises to strengthen my hips, which is supposed to help the IT band. Are there any similar exercises to strengthen or stabilize the knee joint?

i would get that checked out
your rheumotologist might have you get a knee brace
i had a similar problem, turns out i have runners knee, or patellafemoral syndrome, something like that.
See if this hurts - push ur knee cap down with ur hands, back bent
then lift ur kneecap, see if that hurts, if it does, go see a doctor

I have this problem too.
Talk with your doctor about this. You may need to cut back on working out.
