Still having lower back pain after decompression surgery?I had a lateral disc herniation and annular tears of the two lower lumbar disc. I had decompression surgery last May and I am still having pain. My spine is still very tender and I have pain in my left buttock and thigh. When I do my PT hip rotation, I can feel my lower spine pop every time I rotate and it causes a great deal of pain. I'm not sure what to do from here. Any suggestions?

The tenderness in your lumbar spine should have healed by now. Your sciatic nerve may be trapped causing the pain in your buttock and thigh. You definitely need to have the neurosurgeon find out why you are having so much discomfort after nine months. The popping in your spine is abnormal and sounds like you have bone grinding against bone. JMO
I currently have six compression fractures in my neck from C-3 vertebrae to T-1 vertebrae. There are three compressed nerves with the one at C-3 split with core damage. Have been suffering with it for nine months and had two epidural spinal injections to stop the pain which didn't work. The neurosurgeon is trying to get me to agree to him replacing the C-3 & C-4 with bone from my hip and knee but I have heard that the place where he removes bone will never stop hurting. The rest of the vertebraes will be cleaned up and held in place with steel plates and screws. My arms hurt constantly and they are so sore and weak I can barely use them. My husband helps me get dressed.
I understand your pain and wish I had a magic cure that I could enclose with this answer. I hope you can get some relief very soon.

These are symptoms that you should have been talking to your doctor all along. They need to have taken progress XRays throughout the healing process. There should not be any tenderness at this point. There is also no reason for you not asking the doctor what is going on. He is the only person in the world with the information of what was going on before surgery, what was going on after surgery, and what was giong on 3-5 months after surgery. The problem is that you have to take the responsibility for your pain and anything else going on. How do you expect your doctor to help you if you don't tell him what is going on.pp
