Pain control... long story, short version!?I am 33 yrs old and have chronic hip/SI joint pain. I saw a neurosurgeon who definitely says it's not my back, definitely my hip... now being sent to ortho.. I have a history of scoliosis surgery and hip bone chips removed for my back for fusion. I am on soma, naproxen, and hydrocodone (vicodin). I have chronic pain. I have a TENS unit but it is broken. Which doctor should I be getting this from?? I really need something for pain, I dont want to take vicodin forever, especially considering my age. Any advice greatly appreciated.
I have tried acupuncture,, and it worked... but my insurance doesnt cover it and it's very expensive.

I would suggest that you seek out help from an acupunturist. I have had significant improvement in pain relief. Be sure to research the practitioners available in your area...where ever there's water (pain), there's ducks (quack).
Good luck and God speed.
if the accupuncture worked, don't just give in. Go back to your doctor and have him/her work on it. Eastern medicine is rapidly gaining ground with Western doctors. In fact there is a growing number of doctors that incorporate old medicine with their shiny new. My procedures were eventually paid for by my insurance after my doctor pressed the issue and all other avenues had been exhausted.

Your ortho can write a rx for a new TENS unit. You may want to consider going to a pain center/clinic. They can give you different options to help control your pain besides narcotics.
