Lower right side back/hip pain??On Saturday night I noticed that my lower back on the right side started hurting a little bit. It didn't really bother me too much that night other than having a stomach ache. Then on Sunday I woke up and standing up and walking was painful. I can walk fine and everything on my left hand side of my body, but I have to limp on my right side because it hurts to put too much pressure on my right leg/hip/lower back. Today while I was at work, and right now while I'm sitting here at the computer, there is pain in my whole lower back, and oddly enough, it kind of feels like back labor pains. But when I stand up, its still only my right side that is in extreme pain.
I am a healthy 22 year old single mom. I haven't done anything strenuous lately. There is polysystic kidney disease in my family, but I don't think this is in relation to that.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be causing this? Or how to help relieve the pain??

My dad actually got similar symptoms today. He is a healthy 50 year old man. However, when he went to the doctor he said it may be from driving too much. My dad is in the car for like 10 hours a day for his job. The doctor said it my be the constant pushing of his foot on the peddle day after day. But it is just a thought. Do you drive a lot?

First you need to feel your low back to see if you feel heat coming from any of your painful areas. If so this is the sign of inflammation and a prime indicating of a ear or specific injury. In such cases you should see a chiropractor or doctor for immediate evaluation. In the mean time Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory drug take up to 4. If not see if the pain shoots down your leg. If so this indicates a nerve impingement of some sorts. there is a muscle deep in the buttocks called the piriformus muscle. This muscle has commonly been found to in-binge the sciatic nerve causing severe to moderate low back and leg pain. In which case a massage therapist would be ideal. Check it out and don't hesitate to get medical help.

There can be a lot of guesses, but no one here can examine you. Since it has lasted so long you should see a doctor.
