PLEASE HELP , In lots of pain , 10 points to anyone who can help?Tuesday night i had a slight pain in the right side of my face just below my ear, it felt like muscle pain so i ignored it, however i woke up in the night after lying on the right side(the side which hurt) to find myself in alot of pain and a swolen part of my face. I went to the doctors and he said it was an infected salivary gland and he gave me a pescription of anit biotics called Amoxicillin and also to massage the area and wash my mouth out with mouth wash. I went to college today and wednesday because i have some important work i MUST finish. However after both these days i still have an extremely painful swelling , i seem have be delusion a bit , i've gotten extremely forgetful, im very tired and my muscle/joint at the knees and right side of the hip hurt. he hasn't improved and i just want it to go away because its so painful its basically ruining my life, i dont have the energy to do anything and im really uncomfertable, how can i deal with the pain and heal it and how long this usualy takes to go away, i ask this now because i read someone say after a day hers went away.
also i had some cereal at about 3-4 oclock, i hadnt eaten before that since wednesday morning.
and i also have body temperature changes sometimes i feel cold and get goosebumps and other times i felt really hot.

Much depends on how long you've been taking the antibiotic. Amoxicillin is not a strong antibiotic and it may not be up to the job. If you're in the UK, you should go to the pharmacist and ask for a stronger antibiotic. If you're in the US, call your doctor's nurse and tell him/her that you're getting worse and ask if the doctor can call in something stronger to your pharmacy.
That infection is too close to the brain to just tolerate or to wait until you can't stand it any longer. Salivary gland infections are not common. If you're not getting results pretty soon you should go back.
Over the counter, use the aleve in the US. In Canada and UK get some of the stuff with codeine in it.
