Sharp intermittent pain top of my left thigh? So for about a day or two I've been getting this shartp intermittent pain at the top of my left thight. It's localized and it's a very sharp pain. It lasts for about 2 or 3 seconds and then it goes away for a few minutes. I get it when I'm being active or when I'm just sitting down and not doing anything. I don't have any pain in my leg or hip at all when I'm moving it and I've got a full range of motion. No idea what it is. I am active and participate in sport daily so it could be something from there. It doesn't feel like a muscle or a ligament. If I had to describe it I'd say it feels like a nerve just keeps getting pinched for a couple seconds every now and then, but as I said it happens when I'm sitting and not doing anything at all so I'm not sure. Any thoughts?
Chrys - if that's your answer for everything then don't bother. Why the hell would I see a doctor? I'm a big boy. I can handle a bit of pain. Was curious as to what it was.
No, not like fire. It's very localized, not larger than a dime, and it doesn't travel. Hasn't happened yet today.

sounds like a nerve-they can go haywire and hurt,it will do it intermittent, but my guess is use some finger rubbing on it,when it starts hurting.

Hmm..Sharp pain..does it feel like fire? I'm familiar with that sensation and it's you're sciatic nerve. You might have a disc out of place that's pressing on a nerve in a certain way when you sit a certain way...also..it could be a tight muscle that's pinching on you're nerve as well. In the meantime, rub it when you feel it and try getting adjusted if you're into that sort of thing..you might of gotten out of alignment doing you're sports..massage is great though..brings blood flow and oxygen to the affected area and promotes healing!
