What causes the front hip to be very painful?

What causes the front hip to be very painful?I have been having some sever pain in the hip bone that is located on the front part of the body. I belive it is called the ilium from what I found on the internet. It has been painful for now 3 1/2 weeks and had x-rays done and that showed nothing wrong. I am now walking like an old lady cause it hurts to walk normal strides. Can anyone give me some type of reason for this.

Depending on your age, it could be osteoperosis or if you are young, a severe calcium deficiency in the bones. Go to an orthopedist to determine the cause of the problem. Also, are you physically active and may have injured yourself in any way?

Hi dear.................sounds like you need to get to an ortho dr. and get some x-rays...........i am in the same boat and i am now waiting to have a total hip replacement!!!!!!!!!! and it hurts like @#$ %!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to take 2 Lortabs every 4 hrs.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET TO THE DR!!!!!!! and good luck
