I get severe hip/leg pain when I get my period. What's wrong with me?At the start of both of my pregnancy's I experienced aggonizing hip and back pain that radiated down my right leg and caused my foot to tingle. My Chiropractor told me it was due to hormone's that caused my ligaments to strech causing my pelvis to shift and put pressure on my siatic nerve. Now over a year since I've had my child, I'm experiencing the same problem whenever I'm about to get my period, only it gets worse once I've gotten my period and when I ovulate. I limp and I can't sleep because of the pain. I also get severe mood swings which cause me to cry uncontrolably for no reason. As soon as my period is over, I'm fine again until I ovulate, then everything happens again for 2 days. I've been off the pill for 5 months and I'm not pregnant (my husbands had a vasectomy). My doctor thinks it might be Endometriosis but I don't understand why I would be getting the pain where I do. Could anything else be wrong?

see a real doctor, not a chiropractor, they are quacks. endometriosis didnt give me those kinds of pains , but it did give me cancer, see a decent doctor.

Not all chiropractors are quacks. I was given my life back by a chiropractor that practices Morter medicine. (www.morter.com). It sounds like some sort of sciatica to me too.I would want to make an appointment with a gynecologist to make sure you didn't have fibroids or something causing the pressure. My sister had a similar pain and she was riddled with fibroids. The only way your doctor can be sure about the endometriosis is to do a laporoskapy and look around in there.

If its any comfort you are not alone. I am nearly 50 and have always had a tendency to have periods that caused me to ache from my waist to my knees. Some months are worse than others. It always starts with back pain which starts about a week before my period, then progresses to the all encompassing ache. I have uterine fibroid tumors (for years) and I have always thought they contributed to this. I can recommend hot (really hot) baths (Epsom salts), anti-inflammatories and bed rest. Some of the diet restrictions for severe PMS have helped me too. Remember, the pain is real and you are not a wimp. I feel for you. Good luck.
Endo
Uterosacral or sciatic Endometriosis can cause such symptoms. Unfortunately, diagnosis and treatment is difficult unless you see a true Endo specailist. You can ask questions of one such center here: www.centerforendo.com. Maybe they can help. Good luck and feel better.
