Hip pain: What's wrong with my hip/knee?

What's wrong with my hip/knee?When I do the butterfly stretch or the frog stretch or any stretch that involves external rotation of the right leg, my right hip and right knee hurts. The knee pain I think is on the lateral collateral ligament on the side of my right knee and it becomes very very tight when I do any externally rotating stretches.

There's also a point where I can only externally rotate my right knee outward so far that when I reach the point of maximum pain, I go a little more outward and my right hip kinda snaps (no noise, but some pain) and it doesn't hurt anymore. The pain repeats when I internally rotate my right leg all the way again and rotate it outward again, the same way.

Please help. My mom won't let me go to any kinda physical therapist or anything.

I will share some tips that my therapist had me do when I had that problem: Try doing the opposite of what you do when it starts to hurt. Also put pressure doing the movements. ASK a friend to hold your leg and put about 10% of your strength to the count of 10 Release, Put pressure again Repeat..... Relax completely.
Observe your posture when you are walking.
This other exercise might help you if you are not using the right muscles when you walk: Lie FLAT on your back, Bend your knees and lift one foot at a time as if you are walking, it is very important that you do not move any muscles above your waist. Good luck.
