Severe hip pain but MRI and CT shows nothing but bone fragments?

mri hip pain

Severe hip pain but MRI and CT shows nothing but bone fragments? My mother had surgery a while back on her back. The day after surgery, she went to get out of bed and pulled something in her hip. It gradually got worse and worse, and now she's just about bedridden. It hurts for her to lay on her hip, takes forever for her to sit up. Once she's up walking, she's fine, but the pain in her hip and down her leg (sciatic nerve?) is excruciating. No one seems to be able to help. Any suggestions would be most helpful. It's been a good solid four weeks now.

Sorry to hear about your mothers pain. You have not mentioned is she on any painkillers? If the MRI and CT shows that she has no problems then it must be some kind of muscle pull, nerve pain or some kind of minor injury that she got while getting up after her surgery. Even a muscle pain or nerve pain that anyone gets normally also causes a lot of trouble and takes a long time to go. If your mother has got it after her surgery then it will take a while to go away. You can ask your doctor clearly when is the pain going to stop and also if he/she would like to give your mother some pain reliving medicine and also if she can take physiotherapy. The Doctor who performed the surgery and whose treatment your mother is taking now will be able to tell you what all to expect since he/she knows your mother's medical history and medical problems. You can take the help of some good homeopath to support her ongoing treatment. Pain reliever, physiotherapy, and homeopath's treatment will help your mother cope with the pain. You have also not mentioned that why your mother went for a back surgery. All in all it will take a while for the pain to go on its own. In the meanwhile you must take a second opinion that will give you a wider picture and additional support in your mother's treatment. Please do not worry as her MRI and CT is clear so it's a good sign that no major concerns to deal with. I am sure it's a passing phase and with good nursing and additional support your mother will be fine soon. Take care!
