Why is my hip sore after running?

Why is my hip sore after running?I'm not a constant runner, but I ran a mile today to train for my P.E finals and after I noticed that the right side of my hip was sore. It's still sore, and I don't know what to do. Is there something I can do to make it not sore anymore? And will it still be sore tomorrow morning when i run the mile for my P.E finals? Also are there any tips to run faster/ keep a constant pace?

I'm pretty sure I've have had the exact same problem since christmas vacation. My trainer says it's very common, and I know alot of other girls with the same problem on my track teams. You must have pulled a hip flexor, so it's going to be irritated. your hip flexor is the muscle that attaches you leg and your hip and allows it to move. you must have been running at a weird angle. Do you happen to be a sprinter? I'm one and I get it all the time by the way my body is angled when I am sprinting around the corners of a track. It can happen by just running too, but you have to keep icing it.
