Is it normal for a woman to have crippling, mind-numbing pain during her period?I know you might think I am exaggerating on the extent but I'm not.
I started crying in class today when I tried to walk to the trash can.
I get excruciating pain in my lower and middle back and when I sit too long (like when I am in class) my hip joints start to hurt...like someone is stabbing me repeatedly. And then I get these massive head aches accompanied by dull chest pains.
Today I took 8 Advil over the course of 3 hours b/c it just wouldn't go away. I couldn't eat at all but I knew I had to. I'm trying to eat some saltines right now.
My mom calls me a baby b/c I won't do my chores or even get out of bed. I had to force myself to get out of bed this morning. She doesn't understand that I don't get my cramps in my stomach like her. And when I do they aren't that bad.
I think I have PMDD but mom won't listen.
Who should I talk to about this? I'm 15 so I can't just go to the doctor. And it's pointless to go to the school nurse b/c she'll just call my mom.
I have to take the PSATs this Wednesday and I can't concentrate if I can't breathe.

You need to insist your mom take you to the doctor. If you don't think she'll take you for your period pain then tell her you need a physical for school. At the doctor describe what you go through and they will definitely run some tests and give you some relief. You can start out with you pediatrician, you don't have to see a gyno for the first appointment. What you are describing is not normal. If your mom won't listen, then do go to the nurse...at least it will be another adult who can listen and objectively tell your mom, "She's not making it up, this is more severe than normal cramps."
Be careful with the advil. Taking that much can damage your liver. Try heating pads too.
