Sharp pain in my left hip with I apply pressure to it, what can I do?

left hip pain when walking

Sharp pain in my left hip with I apply pressure to it, what can I do?For about a week and a half I have had a sharp pain in my left hip, around where the hip-flexor muscle is. I have pulled a muscle before and this is not a pulled muscle. I feel no pain at all in the area until I apply pressure ie. with my hand, if my purse bumps my hip when walking, when pulling pants on over my hips, etc...I play soccer one night a week and it doesn't bother me one bit running around on the field...any ideas on what this could be and how I can heal it?
I am only 20 years old, so I don't think arthritis would be a likely cause.

Stop applying pressure to your hip

Since you are athletic, you should be able to attend a sports injury clinic in your area for diagnosis, advice and treatment.

could be arthritis, get an appointment with your doctor.

you need to check with your doctor, but it does sound like arthritis.i have arthritis in my chest and anytime i apply pressure it makes it worse. it sounds like you have inflamation and that is what is causing the pain. but you will need your doctor to do an x-ray to make sure. good luck, best wishes.

I am not a Dr, however I have arthritis and my mom has osteo artrhritis. A general family practice Dr. should be able to point you in the right direction. Please be reminded arthritis can occur at an early age, due to vitamin problems and hereditary factors. I am not suggesting you have it, but don't rule it out until you know. I hope this helps you. GOod luck on your quest.
