I am 39 weeks pregnant and was wondering if anyone else has felt this way?

I am 39 weeks pregnant and was wondering if anyone else has felt this way?My doctor told me that I am 2+ cm dilated and about 80% effaced. My due date or should I say dates is March 27, 2011 and the one my doctor said to stick to now is March 31, 2011 but he doesn't think I will make it that far.

Lately I have been having really bad pain in my hips (mostly my right hip) to the point I cannot walk and sometimes it is so bad I can't even turn around in bed or walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night, thank god I have my man to help me out even when he gets irritated with me. I feel like it gets better if I walk around during the day more but it's always the worst at night.

One thing about being able to walk around more during the day is that it is SO difficult to do nowadays because I have been feeling so much pressure in my pelvic area. But today it has just been really painful, does anyone know what that means? Could it mean the baby is dropping more?

And one other thing I can think of is; I haven't had any swelling or just haven't noticed it before but lately my ankles and feet in general have been HUGE. And my fingers have been a little puffy. But I have no protein in my urine and no rapid weight gain so they aren't worrying about it. But I have had high blood pressure since my third trimester started...

Another thing I might add is that this is my first pregnancy and the baby still has not dropped all of the way, but is going down a lot further than he was at my last doctors appointment. Also, they think that my baby will be about 7 1/2 or 8 pounds or bigger and his head measured two weeks bigger than it was supposed to be at my third trimester ultrasound.

Thanks for any feedback!

Hey hon. Its totally normal to have the bad hip pains towards the end of pregnancy. I myself had such bad hips and leg pains in my whole third trimester. i always had such a hard time walking and getting around. it was so hard. i was always having bad shooting pains going though my hips, always felt like i was dislocating my hips. and my left leg would always go numb and burn and tingle. it hurt so bad to walk on. i feel you pain. its all normal towards the end. just try to take it easy and rest as much as you can. baby should be here any day now. and you should feel much better once baby is here.

good luck to you and congrats!

Congratulations First off :) and my Best friend is having the exact came problem! Her due date is March 28th and she has had problems like this and it is normal, her feet are swollen also and she hasn't had this problem until the end of her pregnancy. She also has had serve pelvic pain and her doctor told her that the pelvic is stretching and the baby is dropping which makes you more dilated.
Hope This Helps!!!
God Bless!

I'm almost 37 weeks and 3cm dilated and almost fully effaced with no plug and bubs head is well and truly engaged now (has been since 31 weeks) my doctor said things look good for me to go into labour soon but then again I could stay like this for weeks. It all just depends, the hip pain is totally normal and also totally awful! Its from your pelvis and hips shifting to get ready for delivery, honestly nothing will 'fix' it except having the baby but you might be find it comfortable to sleep with a pillow between your knees to take a bit of pressure off. I have to get my partner to help me to the bathroom too so don't feel alone there! It sounds like the baby has started to drop, do you feel like there's a bowling ball between your legs sometimes :) also you'll pee more and breath much easier. I've had chronic high bp since 15 weeks and sometimes get a little bit of protein in my urine but nothing like the levels in pre e and I have sausage fingers and toes :) The feet and ankle swelling is normal this late in pregnancy, having high bp will make this worse too. Just try to have a little rest every afternoon with your feet up, it should help a little. It doesn't matter if bubs hasn't completly dropped yet, some hold off until delivery, the weight is just an estimate I wouldn't be too concerned, if they think 7 1/2-8lb at birth than that's perfect :) as for the head size, if the dr isn't worried I wouldn't be. Hopefully get gets here sooner rather than later so your poor hips start to feel better soon :)
