Hip pain after running?I just joined track and after running today I got some pain in my right hip. Is there anything I can do to reduce it? Thanks.
William
This is probably from fluid builing up in your joints. Do more stretching, use ice, and take a couple ibuprofen.
You may have to decrease your work outs for a few days or weeks, then work your way back up to it. The joint should strenghten and be fine.
You can look up hip stretches, there are a few I like that I think really help.

since today was your first day, you will probably be sore for a few days to a week or so. just take some ibuprofen and ice it some. if it keeps hurting after a couple of weeks you should see a doctor
57Hi
Be careful, this sounds like it could quickly turn into an injury if you don't keep an eye on it. I think hip problems are a common running injury, and my friend actually had that problem from cross country.
The cause of an injury is often a problem in running technique, improper footwear that doesn't suit your running style, or even having one leg longer or stronger than the other. Another cause is simply not being conditioned for a huge amount of running, then suddenly running a ton of miles every week. If you went through any dramatic changes in the amount you ran lately, it might have also been to fast for your body to adjust. These are all potential causes, so try to rule them out before this turns into a more serious problem.
For most injuries, people use R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.) So, ice your hip, give it some rest, and possibly wrap it and elevate it. Also, stretching might make your hip feel better! Have fun in track!
