hip pain at 38w+3d + position of the baby?Hello girls.
I need a piece of advice. I am 38w+3d pregnant currently with the scheduled enduction this coming Monday due to my gestational diabetes. For the last several days I have that nusty hip pain. When I am walking or sitting, it seems to be better. But at night I honestly do not know how to lay down since it hurts a lot. I know, it's common during late pregnancy, but is there anything that can help to releif this pain?
Also, usually I could feel with my hand my baby's butt around my belly botton area, but today in the morning it shifted much lower. Can it be a sign that we are approaching our happy day? I am already 2cm dialated.
Thanks for the advice.

Call your doctor immediately! could be a sign of an earlier labor. Good Luck

i have to have my baby by the 12 of may or i get induced. I am getting over the pain on the right side of my hip. I only had it for a few days but it went away and now my left side of my hip is adjusting and spreading open. The only thing that keeps my pain down is getting up slow and easy and dont sit in the same position for too long. Good luck with your delivery

It does sound as if you have dropped. I hope you can avoid induction, since it can make labor much stronger and harder to endure. My doctors allowed me to go to 41 weeks with my first and I had GDM then, too. He was a big baby, but he was healthy. Positioning and dialation alone can't predict whether you will have the baby this weekend, but I do hope you can! :) If you have not begun drinking red raspberry leaf tea (real leaves not just raspberry flavor) I hope you can get some and start taking a couple strong cups a day. It is great as a uterine tonic. Also, drinking a premade 2-liter bottle of the tea (made very storng and sweetened with honey) just when you go into real labor can greatly assist your labor. It can work so well, in fact, that it is good to either drink it at the door before you enter the hospital or fight the medical staff and drink it in the hospital. It works!!! Don't think of it as an inducer but as an assist to the healthy workings of your uterus. As for your hip pain, it is possible that you could get some help from the Spinning Babies site. It will help you understand the best ways to sit and lie at this point in your pregegancy for optimal healthy positioning for you and your little one. It may even help turn your baby if he is not positioned best for labor. However, if his little bum is toward your belly button, that is good. I hope this helps alleviate some discomfort, though.

Remember tinker toys? That's kinda how our hips adjust to make way for the growing baby. The pain your feeling,is due to your hip joints, literally loosening to make room in your pelvis. It will fade shortly after delivery. You can take Tylenol, and try some gentle stretching before getting out of bed. I had the same problem late on with #4, and it is already starting with this pregnancy and I am only 14 weeks!
You may also try wedging your pillows behind your back, so that you are almost in a seated position at night, and another under the hip, sometimes relieves the pressure.
As for babies position, he sounds like he may be engaged for delivery, which is great because it'll make delivery quicker. You may not have to be induced afterall!
It'll be over soon, and will al be worth it! Best wishes!

This happened with 2 of my 4 after they dropped. Somehow, they managed to pinch my sciatic nerve. The pain was horrendous. It felt like somebody was stabbing me in the hip and it would go all the way down my legs. I'd venture to say that's what's going on with you.
