Hip pain: Tailbone pain & Hip pain?

Tailbone pain & Hip pain?I have had pain in my tailbone on and off for about 6months, I had a hard fall when I was a kid and hurt it - should it still be hurting? Also my right hip has been killing me for a few months for no reason - I'm only 28 what would the reason for this be? What kind of doctor do I see for these pains?

I would say that both are a result of the fall. The pain in your tail bone could be a cyst. A friend of mine just had one removed because after several years of it, the doctors finally decided it was time to remove the cyst. As far as the hip pain, I have Osteo-Arthritis, and hip or joint pain can be the result of an injury, and the arthritis sets in right at the injured spot, although it might take a few years to show up. I would get your doctor to send you for x-rays, mri, or whatever your health plan will cover. Good luck with that. Pain is something I am well acquainted with, so get something done if possible.

It could be your siatic nerve, i have had the same problem and the only thing that has helped me is the chiropractor 3 times a week and deep massage therapy, a good hard massage. It took a couple of weeks, massage hurt, but now it is feeling much better

It is possible for an old injury to begin to bother you years later, especially is arthritis has developed in that area. I have a condition called sacroillitis that was caused by repeatedly falling down the stairs as a child (no, I was not pushed, I truly had a problem manipulating the stairs ;-) ) It can easily be determined in x-rays. As in the case with all pain, if it continues or gets worse, you should see your doctor. There is no reason to suffer with pain like this. I wish you the best.

I have Bursitis in my left him. Hurts like heck. (I am 39) have had it 3 years off/on. I got a steroid shot. It didn't help much.
A mattress memory foam has helped. Sounds like you may have fractured your tail bone and have a forever lingering ache. (Did they x-ray it).

If the pain is really bad go see your family doctor.
Otherwise Motrin?
