Hip pain: How to relieve hip pain?

How to relieve hip pain?I have to have hip replacement but not for 2 months. This has been very painful for over 2 years. I've had physical therapy and acupuncture, which both worked short term.
My HMO decided, at last, to do the surgery & I did get steroid injections last month which helped quite a lot. Now the pain is back & I can't have another injection. Has anyone been in a similar situation, that can help with suggestions for medication to get me through 2 more months?

I have found that many people who have hip problems get a lot of relief from doing this exercise. It releases the tendon that joins your hip to your body, one that when it gets tight can be very painful.
Do this in shorts.
While laying on your bed, pull your legs up, bent at the knee and your feet on the bed. Take your hand and run it down from your hip and where it joins your body. About half way down you will find the tendon, the only bump between your leg and body. Take that bump in your hands and apply a good amount of pressure to it and hold.
Now relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don't tense up any part of your body.
After 30 seconds slowly lower that leg out to the side as far as possible.
Release the pressure but hold your leg there for one minute. do the other one if needed.

I've had both hips replaced in separate surgeries. I took Aleve (double the OTC dose daily on advice of physician) up until 2 weeks before surgery (I was asked to stop all NSAIDS for 2 weeks before surgery because they thin the blood and can delay clotting)., After that all I took was Tylenol at the maximum dose. tylenol is not an NSAID. Tylenol didn't work all that well but it was better than nothing and was ok to take up until surgery. I also used a cane. Have you asked for something that you can take for pain? Unless your surgeon prescribes something else for the pain I guess you'll have to tough it out on NSAIDS and/or Tylenol. That's what I did.
BTW, my new hips work great and I have my life back now.
